Office Procedures
Northwood Obstetrics and Gynecology offers many procedures that can be performed right here in the comfort of our own office! Some of our office procedure options include:
- Colposcopy - A colposcopy allows your physician to analyze the vulva, vagina, and cervix closely. A colposcope, which is a type of microscope, is used to achieve a close-up of tissues.
- IUD Insertion - An IUD is an intrauterine device that is inserted into the cervix as a method of birth control. This T-shaped device, when situated in the uterus, is highly effective at preventing pregnancy. IUD insertions can be performed right here in the office, and often take less than 15 minutes.
- Nexplanon Implant - NEXPLANON is the small, thin and flexible arm implant that provides up to 3 years of continuous birth control. It is placed discreetly under the skin of your inner, upper arm by your health care provider. It is also reversible and can be removed by your doctor at any time during the 3 year period. Both the implant and removal can be performed from our office.
- LEEP - LEEP stands for Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure. LEEP procedures may be performed after abnormal cells are found during a Pap test, colposcopy, or biopsy. A small electrical wire loop is used to remove abnormal cells from your cervix.
